English as a Second Language is a concept developed by East Los Angeles native, Guillermo Uribe, to describe the expression of our pocho/chicano existence through music and dance. Ironically for some Mexican Americans, español has become their second language. There are so many variations of the pocho, with some being more connected to their American side and others more to their Mexican side. And sometimes, both of these sides come out beautifully in a single song or dance.

About the Artists

Mariachicanos de Los Angeles was formed by Pata de Perro Producciones, whose home base is Eastside Luv, located at Mariachi Plaza in Boyle Heights, CA. Pata de Perro’s mission is to explore the love of English music and the love of Mexican Mariachi music.
